Epi Info, CDC’s powerful public domain software for the development of surveys and data analysis, is one of the most important programs written for community and public health. In addition, Epi Info has applications for numerous professionals who collect and analyze data from surveys, intake forms, or other data collection instruments.
Now, CDC has developed a new Windows version of this powerful software with enhanced graphing abilities. The software combines the capabilities of Epi Info and Epi Map into one convenient application.

The book’s authors are experts in the fields of public health and health education:
- Melissa Alperin, MPH, CHES has taught the use of computers and Epi Info programs to professionals throughout the United States, the Caribbean, and Thailand. A senior associate in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Health Education in the Rollins School of Public Health of Emory University, Melissa has eight years of experience teaching MPH students, conducting public health trainings, and managing evaluation studies.
- Cam Escoffery, MPH, CHES is an instructor at the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University. She teaches Epi Map courses to state health professionals; develops curriculum for instruction on Epi Map; conducts needs assessments, survey research, and evaluations; and collaborates with state health professionals to improve public health delivery with computerized technology.
- Kathleen R. Miner, PhD, MPH, CHES is associate dean for Applied Public Health at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. She is also the director of the Southeastern Institute for Training and Evaluation (SITE). Dr. Miner developed the curriculum for the Health Promotion and Education track leading to the MPH degree at Emory University.
