Joining the Health Education Assessment Project (HEAP) offers numerous benefits. Among those benefits are access to the HEAP assessment items, innovative professional development resources, training opportunities, and discounts on additional HEAP products.
See Frequently Asked Questions for more information about the HEAP
Along with the benefits, membership in the HEAP also entails responsibilities. Most importantly, HEAP members are asked to be active participants and to share information. In addition, education agencies that belong to the HEAP collaborative must select two representatives-preferably one who represents health education and one who represent assessment-to make up their State Representative Team (SRT).
SRT members comprise the working body of the HEAP. They attend biannual meetings and support the project through participating in various committees. For example, SRT members help guide the project’s direction, impart expert review of draft materials, and determine the need for new products. SRT members provide this support at the biannual meetings as well as through ongoing teleconferences, regular electronic correspondence, and occasional face-to-face meetings.
Members pay an annual participation fee of $12,000. These fees support three functions of the project: travel to meetings, administration, and product development. The initial fee to join is $30,000 (plus the current year’s participation fee). The initial fee to join includes access to the entire bank of health education assessment items and to other resources the HEAP has developed. The participation year runs from July 1 to June 30.
Contact the HEAP Project Coordinator to begin the process. The Project Coordinator will ensure you receive a packet of information, which includes a Request for Invoice form. Once you complete the Request for Invoice and send it in, you will be billed for the participation fee and considered a member of the HEAP.
