Ann Smiley: Art Director
The most colorful office at ToucanEd belongs to Art Director Ann Smiley. Ann has been a graphic designer for 25 years and has created numerous health education resources that are in use internationally. She brings her background in editorial and design to ToucanEd in a variety of roles, including graphic designer, page compositor, illustrator, copyeditor, proofreader, and even writer. She holds a bachelor's degree in Art and another in Print Communications from the University of the Pacific.
Before joining ToucanEd in 1998, Ann spent several years doing computer-based composition and design for a nationally known health-promotion organization. Prior to her health education experience, Ann served as communications manager for two California chambers of commerce, and she has also worked as a newspaper reporter.
Ann is proud of her role in ensuring that ToucanEd's materials read well, look beautiful, and are intuitive and easy to use. She enjoys spending her spare time with her husband, son, and two cats, and boasting about them on Facebook.
