What kind of business is ToucanEd?

ToucanEd is a woman-owned publishing company founded in 1995 by Kathleen Middleton, MS, CHES, with a commitment to providing health communication and education materials to diverse audiences of all ages. School, community, and employee health and safety remain the company's passion. Currently we are focusing on emergency training and preparation and the development of new educational products and trainings to meet this important need.

We offer a wide range of products including curricula, pamphlets, training guides, CDs, and videos. We also offer custom publishing, training, and consultation services.

Where is ToucanEd located?

The ToucanEd offices are located in sunny Santa Cruz, California, along the Monterey Bay. We are about 45 minutes from the San Jose International Airport, an hour and 15 minutes south of San Francisco, and 45 minutes north of Monterey. We always welcome you in our offices.

What hours are you open?

Our regular business hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time. (But don’t be surprised to find us here at other times as well!)

What kind of training do you offer?

ToucanEd offers training services in all of our markets. We can customize trainings to meet the specific needs of any professional, including educators, nonprofit or public employees, or corporations. Our past trainings have included academic topics such as performance assessment and how to use Epi Info. Presently we are organizing trainings of our own proprietary Pandemic Flu Awareness Course and associated TOT. Give us a call if you would like to talk about your training needs.

What is CCSSO? What is the SCASS assessment project?

This is a project of the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) State Collaborative on Assessment and Student Standards (SCASS). The project is designed to assist member states in developing a variety of innovative materials for use in assessing student performance in health education, known as the Health Education Assessment Program (HEAP).
